Journey from Islam in Turkey to Episcopal Priest in Wisconsin (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eVF68vlydK4pe0fWm_HiC75BWpOABrgy/view?usp=sharing)
Mtr. Ezgi was born and raised in Türkiye. As a child of a family of artists and musicians, she learned to play the piano and sing at age 5. After privately studying music theory, piano, and voice during her early years, she was accepted into the Izmir State Conservatory, where she majored in viola for five years (2000-2005) as part of their junior program.
In 2006, she came to the United States as a high school Rotary Exchange Student. During her first year, she lived in a small town in southern Missouri, where she came to know and love Jesus Christ and was baptized as a Southern Baptist in the cool waters of Jack’s Fork River near Mountain View, MO. After graduating high school, she studied accounting and finance at Drury University.
While in college, she discovered St. John’s Episcopal Church and fell in love with Anglican theology, music, and liturgy. Since ordination she has served as a curate at the Church of St. Michael & St. George in St. Louis and an Associate Rector at St. Andrew’s in Kansas City. She has served as Canon Precentor of Fond du Lac since April 2018 and Canon Treasurer of St. Paul’s Cathedral since 2022. She has also been the rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon, Wisconsin, since 2020.
